He Who Began A Perfect Work…

When my kids were young I taught them about Jesus as best as I could.

All 3 got saved and baptized at a fairly young age.

As they got older and started going out on their own and were exposed to the world a bit – school, friends’ houses, the mall, the movies, etc. – then later college – they began to witness and experience bad things..

Things people typically witness or experience in a broken world.

Painful things.

Before long they struggled with their faith as society bombarded them with all sorts of lies that downplayed God and emphasized self.

Lies that characterized God in false, disrespectful ways.

They weren’t always obvious.

Sometimes they were half-truths disguised as reality.

The enemy whispered lies to them repeatedly.

For whatever reason they began to believe the lies and chose the world.

Before long they had walked away from their faith.

Watching them struggle and make certain choices has broken my mom’s heart.

I’ve prayed, cried, and talked to them,.

Still, they walk in the world.

So, I keep praying, asking God to rescue them from their bad choices; from their sin.

As I’ve prayed, the Spirit has reminded me of this verse from Philippians:

being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus –Philippians 1:6 NIV

This has comforted me.

God isn’t finished with them.

He’ll keep working with them.

Not just for a little while but all the way through their lives.

So, I wait and I hope.

I pray and I believe.

I keep praying for them.

I keep trusting Him.

I keep watching because one thing I know for sure –

God can do exceedingly, abundantly above what I can ask or imagine. Ephesians 3:20-21 NIV

I truly believe that someday, in God’s perfect timing, they will begin to see the error of their ways..

They will remember the One Who Created them.

They will come back to their faith.

I praise God that I can come to Him and ask Him to help them do so, knowing He listens, He hears and He cares.

God can and He will do exceedingly, abundantly above what I can ask or imagine.

It might not look like I think it will.

It might not be in the timing I think it should be.

But, God, Who is faithful, will continue the work He began in them.

I’m looking forward to the day they return to God, through Christ and I praise Him that it is coming!

What about you? Is there someone in your life you would like to see come to Christ?

Are you praying for them?

Do you believe He can bring them into the kingdom as He does more than you can ask or imagine?

Will you praise Him for it?!?

5 Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from Him.

6 He alone is my rock and my salvation: He is my fortress, I will not be shaken. – Psalm 62:5-6 NIV
