He Will Supply All My Needs
I was in a Bible Study recently where the verse Philippians 4:19 came up.
It’s a very popular verse.
It says:
And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus. (NIV)
It’s reassurance that all our needs will be met.
It’s a good reminder that God is Yahweh Yireh – the God who provides.
People commonly recite this verse when they are concerned about material needs such as rent, utilities, groceries, etc.
That’s a valid and important part of it.
God does supply for all our material needs.
But – there are other aspects to it.
Ones we don’t always stop to realize and appreciate.
One is that God supplies for all our spiritual needs.
He provides wisdom, strength, guidance, comfort, and anything else we need to have a healthy, successful faith walk.
All these things are ours by virtue of being a Christian.
They’re part of our inheritance as His child.
All we have to do is ask Him for them and believe He will help us with them..
Case in point –
Recently I had to have a hard conversation with a loved one.
It was going to be awkward.
It was going to be painful.
Going in to it I wasn’t even sure what I was going to say – what I was supposed to say – much less how I was going to say it.
I spent time praying about it ahead of time, asking for wisdom and guidance.
God honored and answered those prayers in a big way.
When we had the conversation, wise words came.
They were honest words that explained the situation in a gentle way.
Words that allowed me to speak the truth in love.
Words that healed.
It was clear that when I had had a need God had supplied it.
He had given me His mercy, guidance, and wisdom at the very moment I needed them.
Because He gave me these things I was able to handle the situation in a way that was honoring and pleasing to Him.
I am so thankful He was there to guide me and to give me what I needed to resolve the situation in a Godly way.
I am thankful, too, that He is so generous with His love.
There are so many gifts, blessings, and mercies the Lord has for us.
So many things He is willing to give us to help us through our times of difficulty.
What a blessing it is that when we have a need, no matter what it is, we can go boldly to His throne and ask for assistance, confident He will help us and He will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory.
Thank you, Lord, for your blessings on us!
What about you? Are there things in your life you need? Have you asked Him to supply them for you according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus?
Will you be brave enough to ask Him for them today?
Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. –Hebrews 4:16 (NIV)
